Tier-one games developer Gameloft achieved EUR76.8 million in sales in the first half of 2011, up 15 percent compared to the same period in 2010, largely driven by sales of its mobile apps.
The company said that revenue for its smartphones and tablets grew 55 percent year on year, to account for 30 percent of its total. It also noted growth in emerging markets.
Gameloft expects to increase its profitability in the second half of 2011, and the company intends to launch around 20 new smartphone and tablet games during the period.
For Q2 2011, sales hit EUR37.4 million, up 11 percent year on year. Europe represented 33 percent of the company’s quarterly sales, North America, 28 per cent and the rest of the world, 39 percent.
Gameloft also makes games for non-mobile platforms such as Facebook, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
