Bloomberg reports that Apple has cut component orders for the iPad by 25% in the fourth quarter of 2011.

This is an interesting piece of news considering that the battle between Samsung and Apple rages on.  We’ve always thought that the design obsessed manufacturer went after the Samsung 10.1 was because it was the most competitive Android tablet on the market and the biggest threat to the iPads dominance.

Foxconn, a major iPad supplier, may experience a drop down to 13 million units in the fourth quarter from 17 million in the previous quarter.

Reduced orders from Apple to iPad suppliers could reflect both weakening demand in Europe due to economic conditions there as well as a strategy by Apple to operate with reduced inventory.

There is no confirmation from Apple around this industry analysis.
