Mobile social gaming network OpenFeint has released an Android app for searching for games on its games catalogue.

Game Channel is already available on iOS devices but the Android version of the app will allow the company to promote its Android  games with free-to-play games a particular focus.

OpenFeint – which has 128 million registered users and more than 7,000 game titles – said game discovery is a significant problem for games developers and consumers as the Android market matures and competes with the iOS game ecosystem.

The app has a Featured Game section to promote a game chosen by OpenFeint for fixed periods, increasing their exposure to users. Like the iOS version, the Android edition also includes a Free Game of the Day. Many of the games will include free in-app items, according to OpenFeint.

There is a Curated Game Lists highlighting the top Android games and based on player feedback. Lists will include Free Games That Rock, Feint’s Featured Picks, New Games that We Love.

Game Channel also incorporates OpenFeint’s social features, allowing users to access their profile space from within the app.
